Why did your water pump fail? Common reasons:

It's age| wrong coolant or no coolant used| stop leaks added to cooling system.

Your serpentine belt is not running true from pulley to water pump to tensioner and this misalignment puts undue strain on the pulley shaft resulting in failure.

Your tensioner bearing has deteriorated causing the pulley to run untrue.

Your Viscous fan is worn causing strain on the water pump.

Please check these before you fit a new water pump.
